We couldn’t have asked for a better afternoon out in our English Garden for the Annual Rose’ tasting this Saturday. The weather, company, music, appetizers and of course, fantastic wine made for a great time. A big thanks to all who came out and enjoyed the day with us. We’re already looking forward to doing it again! In the meantime, we always have a good selection of some of our favorite roses at Jaynes to hold you over until next time.

Wiener Schnitzel Week is Back!!
It’s Wiener Schnitzel Week. Our take on the Austrian National dish is made with tender, pounded and breaded Duroc pork, housemade gruyere spaetzle with broccolini and fresh lemon. Definitely a top 3 Jaynes dish. An ideal beer pairing without a doubt, but also a great opportunity to try out one of the most versatile of wines, Austrian Gruner Veltliner, served by the glass. The kitchen will be hammering away, literally, all week through Saturday night.
Kermit Lynch Wine Dinner:
On Wednesday, July 10th Jaynes will co-host a wine dinner with legendary Northen California wine merchant Kermit Lynch. Wine Specialist Kate MacWilliamson will be on hand to introduce 6 wines from France and Italy. We will be serving a 5 course dinner paired with 6 of our favorite wines from the KL portfolio. Kermit’s selections are among our all time favorites, not the least of which the Domaine Tempier Rose. This is a rare opportunity and we hope you will join us.
Apertif at 7pm with dinner to begin at 7:30
$75/person plus tax and gratuity
Here’s just a little more on Kermit Lynch…
Kermit Lynch began as a retail wine shop in 1972 and later Mr. Lynch himself began importing and distributing nationally. In 2000, the James Beard Foundation named him the Wine Professional of the Year. Over the years, Lynch has earned other awards from the French government and his first book Adventures on the Wine Route won the Veuve Clicquot Wine Book of the Year award. His second book, Inspiring Thirst, was published in 2004.
In 1988 he planted his little terraced hillside near Bandol with Mourvèdre vines. The juice now goes into Domaine Tempier’s famous La Migoua cuvée. Ten years later, he purchased the historic Domaine Les Pallières in Gigondas in partnership with his friends the Bruniers of Vieux Télégraphe. Lynch and his family spend part of the year in Berkeley and part in Provence.
Kermit is one of those essential mavens of the wine world and he can count us among his faithful followers. Also, how much do you love that Thomas Jefferson quote on the Kermit Lynch building “Good wine is a necessity of life.” We agree.
A big thanks to all who came out on Saturday to sip on a sampling of fine wines from Spain’s premier wine producing region and listen to Music from the Tom Ward Trio. Anybody else love that great version of the Leon Russell/Bonnie Bramlett penned “Superstar”!? Good times were had by all at the 2013 Rioja Tasting and we can’t wait to soak up more days like this on the patio with summer right around the corner.
We’re back and look forward to seeing everyone. We had a great vacation giving us some much needed rest from a rocking holiday season. We we’re also able to give Jayne’s a lot of maintenance love. A restaurant is like a wooden sailboat, lots of leaks and creaks to tend to. Happy Hour starts at 5pm and our Tuesday Jayne Burger and any draft beer for $16 special continues.
